pumpkin spice and everything nice
Fall in NYC is proving to be nothing but beautiful, especially when you live as close as we do to Prospect Park.
I am loving seeing all the leaves changing colors, and Mike and got to head to Brockport to visit with his family, pick pumpkins, and throw a little Halloween party for his nieces and nephews. The pumpkin patch we went to had a little hay ride, small fall activities, hot chocolate, and even a little petting zoo.
We took our pumpkins back to Mike's parents house where we carved the one into a Mickey bar!
The Halloween party was super fun and reminded me of the ones we used to have in elementary school.
It was a really short weekend trip, but we visited some waterfalls on the way back to NYC to make the trip last a little longer. As someone who doesn't usually pay much attention to nature, I could not be more excited about seeing the leaves change colors...they are so beautiful! One of the stops was Ithaca Falls..but honestly, I can't remember which one, and I don't remember the name of the other stop (haha!).
On actual Halloween, I had to teach my advanced gymnastics class at NY Kids Club till late, but I got home just in time to change into my last minute Minnie Mouse costume (because my chipmonk onsie was compromised!) and head down to the 7 Avenue Halloween parade in Brooklyn.
Auditions have been pretty slow lately, but I have had a few call backs for some local NYC theaters (Sally in Charlie Brown, Belle in Christmas Carol, and Cinderella in Cinderella), but nothing thus far. There was one audition I was particularly excited about for multiple reasons. One, the actual audition had a dog in the holding room and it was amazing.
The second reason I was excited was because it was for Tokyo Disneyland's Valentine Nights Concert and I got all the way to final call backs for Rapunzel, however, in the end, I didn't end up getting the offer.
Auditioning is a tough road here, but luckily with Broadway shows only miles from my apartment, it helps rekindle my ambition any time I get to see a show. I was suppose to take one of the children I nanny for to go see Matilda, but she ended up getting sick, so Mike and I got to go together. It was an amazing show, and I cried the entire time, haha. I really wanted to see the show before it closed on January 1, and it just worked out.
I am particularly excited about these up and coming weeks. In about one week from today I will be in Orlando with my family celebrating Thanksgiving, and the week after I am going on a very special trip to see two very special people...but more details to come later (:
