I Sense There's Something In The Wind....

Back in June, I had received another surprise offer to return to my home in Hong Kong, to hang out with a new friend for Halloween.

After moving out of NYC, the wedding, the honeymoon, half moving to Orlando, and dealing with a cancelled flight, Mike and I finally made it to Hong Kong around mid August, but not before attending Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disney World in Orlando to say hello to Jack & Sally.

Once in Hong Kong, we jumped straight into traditions and rehearsals with the new cast.

Although it was a busy few weeks, our days off were spent showing some of the girls around HK including how to ride the MTR, where to find the best dim sum, and how to grocery shop.

Of course we would not have done our job if we had not shown them around the local markets, like Mong Kok and my favorite, Temple Street Night Market, and helped them purchase some souvenirs to send back home (and had bubble waffles along the way!).

Of course not all our off time can be spent together, which makes me even more happy that Mike was able to come out to HK with me this time. My adventure buddy and I have had plenty of time to visit some of our old favorites like Pepper Lunch, McDonalds weird ice cream flavors of the month (mango -oreo mcflurries currently on the menu), and meeting up with some old friends.

One of our more magical experiences was visiting the new Harry Potter themed, 9 3/4 Cafe

Ordering tasty treats like fish and chips, deep fried potato prawns, butterbeer, and mango yoghurt drinks, dressing up in our wizard attire, and the cafe decor made the entire experience absolutely worth it, and I would highly recommend checking it out if you are a potterhead.

Expecto Patronum!

Another themed dinner took place at the Disneyland Hotel but this time the occasion was Mike's birthday! We celebrated my little explorers big day by staying at the new Disney's Explorer Lodge Hotel.

When Mike visited me in HK about 2 years ago, we had Disney character Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus at the Disneyland Hotel....
throwback!

and he requested we celebrate his birthday by doing this experience again.

I love this experience because not only are the dim sum incredibly cute and well crafted, they are super tasty! My favorite was the Mickey Scallion pancake (pictured below).

Duffy (red bean) and Shellie Mae (lotus seed) buns
Green Alien dim sum filled with vegetables and chicken
"I have been chosen"

Three little pigs BBQ pork bun
Baymax pork and seafood bun (another fav)
"Bah la la la la"
And finally some tsum tsum jellies for dessert.

The birthday celebration concluded with a lemon swiss roll cake, some time in the park, and of course, birthday presents.

Speaking of park time, something spooky has been happening in Hong Kong Disneyland... Jack Skellington and all his friends are taking over decorating the park in preparation for the 25th Anniversary of the Nightmare Before Christmas and Halloween.

Halloween at HK Disneyland kicked off on September 13, 2018, and the brand new walk through experience, Journey to Halloween Town officially opened it's gates.

In the walk through experience, guests are invited to venture into Dr. Finklestein’s Lab, where  Sally desperately needs help from the guests before visiting Jack at his Town Hall meeting. Everyone must stay alert, as the evil Oogie Boogie might be on the loose inside.
You can view the walk through experience here:
(skip ahead to 4:05 to see my friend Sally in her lab)

Halloween Town truly comes to life in this walk through experience, with incredibly vivid imagery. Click on the commercial below to take a sneak peek:

The walk through experience had only been open 3 days when Typhoon Mangkhut blew through, causing devastation all throughout Hong Kong. We were very fortunate to live in an area not a lot of damage and flooding got to, however, most of the trees near our home were all down the following day.

Although we did not experience too much damage at our home, Halloween Town needs to do a bit of redecorating to prepare for the holiday, and the walk through experience is now currently closed. Jack, Sally, and some of their friends have been currently meeting with the guests in the park, discussing all things Halloween until Halloween Town is ready for visitors once again.

There is currently another super typhoon in the forecast for Hong Kong next week, and we are all saying many prayers this is not the case. Until then, Mike and I are off to Bangkok this week, and coming soon will be more information about our most recent trip to Singapore.
