you get in life what you have the courage to ask for
Mike and I had a rare long weekend pop up on the schedule, so we decided to visit somewhere that’s been on our bucket list for a while.
Devils Den is a beautiful natural spring in a cave found just outside Gainesville. You have to book a reservation time, but if you do the earliest time on a weekday, there is a good chance you’ll have it all to yourself unlike the weekends when it’s super crowded.
And then you climb down into the cave…
But once you’ve cleared your head of the rocks and climbed down the stairs, the world is so quiet and just opens up for you.
The water is super clear blue, there might be some fish friends swimming about, but the hole in the top allows some sun to peek through (view from top). The rest of the little park itself is cute, with a little pond to swim around in and hang out for the day if you wish. We had other plans though.
Right next door is the Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens, a Japanese inspired garden. It’s a beauty, and a very peaceful spot to visit!
Mike really loved all the waterfalls around!I personally liked visiting with the tortoise.
This was not the only animal on our little weekend adventure we encountered. We booked a little tiny house on Airbnb that was on a farm, where you could see and interact with all the cutie little farm animals. I got to pet the cows, cats, the donkey, buffalo, and the horses!
They LOVED people. When we would come walk toward the fence, they would run to you to get some head scratchies!
Our tiny little accommodation was perfect for our one night stay. Thanks tiny home! And dessert at Flamingo Freeze, where my tongue was blue for the next three days.
But the real winner was Swig on the way home. Customizable soda? Yes please.
This was a great little getaway, and we were thankful for some reconnecting to nature time. When we got back, it was just about time for Easter. We currently have 2 baby bunnies and 2 big bunnies in our backyard, so it’s been really fun watching them, especially around Easter.
They were so nice and even brought us Easter baskets! Mike and I have been dog and house sitting all week, but since leaving SeaWorld, we don’t get the same time together that we used to, so we have to be really intentional with getting time together. We did a little date night visiting the boardwalk to finally check out Blue Ribbon corn dogs. We tried the pickle dog and elote dog. I have to say, both were ok but nothing really stand out ish sadly.
I got to spend the day at Fort Desoto near the beautiful beaches for a shoot one day. I have never really been one for Shark Week, but let’s just say I will be interested to see it this year.
In other news, I started my Disney job this week! I will not really be working in the parks the same way that I was, but instead at the Roy E building off property unless we are filming in the parks. I had my traditions orientation for the 6th time total, 2nd time at Disney World, which was a fun day. We earned our ears from Mickey Mouse himself and even got to go into Magic Kingdom for a bit.
Very excited to see what this next chapter will hold! I already got to have a fun park day with friends!
We also had our final concert for Encore for this year. Taking on the production manager role for a new program was an incredible challenge, but I was so glad to get some experience under my belt and connections with a great team!
