so many people have inspired me to be nothing like them {MSC World America}

After I got off the Disney Destiny ship, Mike and I drove immediately to Miami cruise port so I could go on the next job, the MSC World America ship.

I had to be one of the first people from the crew on this ship to make sure all the crew and talent made it on board, but I am super grateful to Mike for driving all day to make sure I got there on time dropped off and ready to go.

After everyone got on board, we made sure we did our muster stations before finding some lunch at the little cafe downstairs. This place ended up being my fav lunch spots with wings, burgers, pizza, nachos, and more.

After lunch it was time to check out my room. I was lucky to be given a balcony and although I was on the 16th floor, I didn’t feel a lot of the ship movement. My only complaint was whatever was above me at 6am started being really noisy every day and would often wake me up. Other than that, the room was really beautiful and super spacious.

I was super tired from being up so early, so I took a little nap before heading down to the promenade to meet up with some other crew to hang out with. We were super spoiled on this job and while we were on the ship for about 7 days, we only had to really work the last 3 so we had a lot of downtime to hang out. We also were given a drinks package, so we were very hydrated. The promenade was were the coffee shop was, which made an amazing iced coffee and white hot chocolate. We spent every day here at some point.

It also had a candy shop with fun milkshakes, gelato and a build your own candy bar for an additional charge. Outside the shop they have an all you can eat cotton candy and popcorn stand.
I walked down to the end of the promenade right at the perfect time, and saw the most beautiful sunset while we pulled out of Miami.
I spent the rest of the evening exploring the main atrium of the ship, which had a really cool LED ceiling that changes images and themes throughout the week.
This project was going to be fun because we were going to be seeing a lot of Drew Barrymore and Orlando Bloom!
Dinner was set for 8:15pm, so I needed a little snack before and went to one of the 2 buffets to suss it out. I had what I thought was a cupcake and it was an ice cream cone full of buttercream, so strong start!
The buffet food had a lot of different type of stations, and MSC has a reputation for not having great food, but I thought the food was decent enough. There were some winners but you just had to find them.
Before actual sit down dinner, I went to a magic show that was pretty good. They did some great illusions feeling very vegas-y but I was told I can be a harsh entertainment judge.
Our dining rotation was dinner in the same dining room, the Hexagon, every night, but the menu would change. The french onion soup was my favorite dish there, but I didn’t feel like the food was a major stand out.

Before bed, I went for a walk to explore other parts of the ship I might have missed, and I found myself on deck 20 where the ropes course, the water slides, the basketball court which doubles as a roller skating rink and triples as a bumper cars track are found. And most of it is all included!
We did do the ropes course later in the week and the ship was in some rough waters so it was pretty nerve wracking. Especially when you zip line over the drop from the 20 floor to the 8 floor.
Up here was where the jaws slide which goes from floor 20 to floor 8 is. This was super fun!
Also on the 20 floor is the big swing that mechanically swings over the water! This is a $10 charge and is pretty popular, but I never found the time to do it.

I finished my walk and headed to bed. Most mornings I had time to visit the breakfast buffet. There was a buffet on floor 18 and one on floor 19. The 19 floor one usually was less crowded.

There was a matinee showing of Dirty Dancing that I went to, but didn’t totally know what I was going to. They played the film while a live band with singers and dancers are also entertaining on stage. I had never seen the film before and was kind of distracted by trying to figure out if I should be paying attention to the film or the live entertainers.
But they did do the lift!
When I came back to my room I did have a good laugh at how the housekeeper made my bed and really seemed to enjoy making blanket art for me.

It was time to check out some of the pools on board. I never really went to the main deck outdoor pool, one because it was more crowded, but two it rained a lot on this cruise. My favorite pool was the botanical garden area where there were several hot tub options.

By the pool was where my favorite little snack stop was that had chicken and beef empanadas, corn dogs, and other hearty snacks.

I also spent a lot of time on this floor going to the gym every day.
Evenings on board the ship, there was your typical cruise chip entertainment found. There was karaoke,
and little shows you would stumble upon. We wouldn't even really use the app, we'd just wander around til we found something.
We went to a lot of them, but I think one of my favorite nights was silent disco.
Dueling pianos was also great because a girl I went to college at Kent State with was performing! Meagan and I go way back, so it was so fun getting to catch up with her!
Most of my evenings were fun though cause I got to hang out with these goobers who became my cruise family.

Our itinerary on this ship began in Miami, then we had a day at sea to travel to our first port, Roatan Honduras.
We had some time to get off the ship, but it was bucketing down rain when we first disembarked.
We stayed in the little touristy landing area til the weather cleared up.
We slowly made our way through all the shops, sampling chocolate and finding funny tshirts.
Once you left the port, it was physically impossible not to be followed by someone trying to sell you a taxi ride or an excursion of some kind. It was a little overwhelming, and in the end we were looking to see some monkeys, so we ended up at the nearest animal experience. I wouldn't say I recommend this one, and I definitely felt sad for these sweet babies, but they were very cute.

We saw a bunch of different kinds of animals, and I don't remember the name of half of them because we were in and out of here in like 15 minutes, but the capichun monkey was definitely the best part.
After our visit, we walked for miles toward the town.

There is not a whole lot going on in this port unless you're going out to do an excursion, and on our walk we saw so many starving dogs. One dog followed me for a really long time, and we named him Brian. Brian inspired me. We saw a small store that was selling small baggies of dog food, so the rest of the afternoon we fed the street dogs, and this became the highlight of my trip.
Hi Brian!
Thanks for the inspiration Brian, I miss you!
We said our goodbyes to our new furry friends and headed back on the ship. That evening for dinner, we used our credits to go to one of the upgraded dining experiences, Eataly. This one of a kind ship experience was some of the best Italian food, and one of my favorite meals overall. I also had my first espresso martini, which was pretty tasty.

The next day, our port was Costa Maya.
Just like the last port, our cruise ship dropped us right in the middle of a very touristy little shopping area, and it was impossible to find the exit out of.
Very last minute, we decided to book an excursion to the ruins, and we literally had to run off the ship to our meeting spot to make it.
We started our tour by the fake ruins in the town, got in a nice 15 passenger, air conditioned van, and speed raced the hour trip to the ruins. Thanks The Native Choice for having an excursion that was half the cost of the other tours and gave us a more knowledgeable guide and a better overall experience!
When we made it to the ruins, the van driver passed us off to the tour guide who was extremely passionate about Mayan culture and gave us a great tour, thanks Davit!
We saw 6 different variations of these ruins and every time I was amazed.
One of my favorite spots was when we got to smell some wild clove growing in the area where their homes used to be.
You can't climb the ruins anymore, but there is a section of stairs they let you climb, and it can be challenging! They are uneven and quite steep.
The whole area is really peaceful, and we were lucky we went on a cool day.
As we were leaving, we saw a wild monkey playing in the trees too.
We walked through the little market before our van driver Fernando took us back to the ship with time to spare before we departed.
That evening for dinner was the Greek upgrade restaurant, Paxos. I was most looking forward to this since I love Greek food, and it was very good!
The highlights of my night though was actually not the food. We had heard rumors of a speak easy on board the ship, and the only way to get invited was to find an officer with 3 stripes on their uniform and ask them for a coin. We spotted the officers across the restaurant enjoying their dinner, and flagged them down by making ridiculous gestures, asking for a coin. They said they did not have one, but magically after our dinner, a coin appeared and we got to make our reservation for the speak easy!
The speak easy you had to teleport through a phone booth and down through the crew quarters to get to it. Once inside, it felt like you were inside a train car, where entertainment and libations flowed.
The next day was our port in Cozumel. This was our last day before we started filming, so we actually had to do some work. Colin and I got sent on an adventure to get some supplies from Office Depot in Cozumel, and we tried to make the most of carrying poster board around the cruise port.
We also ran into a doggy I could finally pet!
And a cultural experience at Starbucks, where I had a red velvet latte.
We got to come back out for actual fun and exploration later after all. We mostly stayed around port looking at the stores and markets, while Alex and Sofia taught us Spanish.
We went into a store that I can only describe as the Walmart of Cozumel to check out what life was like there.

It was time to get back to work on the ship, but don't worry, we had a little gelato break from the chocolate shop on board.
Ugh if only weren't having such a miserable time.
That night for dinner since we didn't have any tacos in Mexico, we had tacos on the ship at Hola the upgraded restaurant, and they were amazing.

This night ended up being one of our favorites though. Since we had a drinks package that allowed us to have 15 drinks a day, we wanted to use it to bar hop and try all the different drinks we have never tried before. Most of these were disgusting and you realize why you have never had them, but we had such a fun time.
The next 3 days were filled with work and busy days.

We docked at the MSC private island one day, which we were not able to get off for, but the water was so blue.
The work was hard and the days were long, but it was worth it. Our final evening, we got to watch a rocket launch, where everyone convened on the deck to watch.
I also entertained everyone while Wicked played on the upper pool deck while we waited for the rocket launch.
And then our cruise was over! It was time to pack it all up and get it off the ship and saw our goodbyes. Even though I see these people all the time, I was sad to go and say goodbye.
It was time to take the Brightline back to Orlando and go back into normal life..but is it ever truly normal with me?
