Go to the Bahamas, forget about the dramas

Just when I think there is nothing too crazy going on this Summer, I get a last minute call from Disney to go to the Bahamas for a photoshoot with National Geographic.

The work trip was about a week long and included a lot of modes of transportation to island hop around to gather the content we needed. We started out with an hour long flight from Orlando, a layover in Miami, and another hour long flight to Eleuthera. After landing, we had a 3 hour car journey to Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Pointe. We stayed in the cast housing so I can’t really show you any photos, but it was pretty nice.

There wasn’t a whole lot going on on the island when there wasn’t a ship in port, and there was nothing really around, but we were working lots anyways. We spent most of our time on the beach, and I have the tan lines to prove it.

The days the ship was in port we got to eat on the island, and of course there was daily ice cream.

The highlight of this trip for me was getting to paddle board for the shoot on the crystal clear water.

We also went out to look at the stars a few times at night since it was so dark and clear on the beach. One night we saw a lightning storm in the distance and it was gorgeous to watch!

One of our excursion days we went to explore the Cathedral Caves, which were neat, but extremely humid.

Our last night, we saw a bit of the sunset and said goodbye to the island.

After a few days, we headed to the other island. The night before our flight, since the airport was so far away, we got a hotel closer to the airport. We stayed at the Cove, which was truly the most beautiful place ever and I was sad we barely had one night here to enjoy it. We each had basically our own giant house with a beautiful ocean view for the night.

We had to fly back to Miami for another layover to fly to Marsh Harbor. The only reason I was excited about this was because I missed Starbucks and needed a pick me up.

We then had another hour long car trip to a 20 minute private boat transfer to get to Disney’s Castaway Cay. I do love a boat ride, and this was my favorite part of the journey. Once again, we stayed in the cast accommodation, which I cannot show you.

While on Castaway, The Disney Wish ship was docked, so we photographed around the island while the guests were also there, so once again, yummy food was had!

It was finally time to wrap up our project, and I was sad to say bye to the island, but I know I will return. We did make some amazing memories and I am so glad I was invited to join.

Our final night in the Bahamas we stayed at the Abaco Beach Hotel, which was also a nice place to stay, especially after other accommodation options. It was very contrasting, but I really enjoyed my hammock swing on the porch.

It was a 6 hour layover in Miami where our flight kept getting delayed at the end that really killed me, but the rest of the trip was amazing.

It’s hard doing all this fun stuff filming and not being able to take pictures or show you all the cool stuff we are doing, but trust me when I say I love my job and I consider myself lucky every day with what I do. I am absolutely exhausted every night, and my face is sunburned, and all my shoes are full of sand, but my heart is full, and there is a smile on my face.
