I have officially been in Hong Kong 1 year now! This is crazy to me because it feels like I have been here at least double that. This is also actually the longest I have ever been here in one consecutive period.
Covid daily cases in Hong Kong have remained stable under 5 per day, and are usually imported from elsewhere. Those who would like to be vaccinated have most likely been by now, however, the whole country has a very low vaccination rate. With quarantine upon arrival in HK still being roughly 14+ days, travel is not looking like it will happen any time soon.
Missing travel, Mike and I decided to change our mindset and pretend like we were on vacation. We wore our new bathing suits we bought for our (cancelled) cruise in February 2020, went to Shek O Beach, played our steel drums music, sipped on mango smoothies, and called it Hawaii.
We had lunch at the cutest little beach shack called Ming's Cafe, and really felt like it was true vacation. Our other big adventure was our junk boat trip with some of our other expats. The weather was perfect, and it was so nice to just float in the ocean.
The food was so good and we were exhausted on the way home but the beautiful cotton candy colored sunset was the perfect way to end the day.
This month was also filled with other beautiful views like this one of the skyline we saw while picnicking for Renna's birthday.
We love a meal with friends! Including this one to
Veda with our vegetarian friends! We ate some strange looking dishes, but boy was it an adventure!
We also had an American food craving and settled for a bloomin onion from Outback Steakhouse-
I also had brunch with Lydia at
Mr. Wolf where we had the best time-
And more brunch with our new cast mates Elysia and Elinor at
Green Waffle-
We also went out to Thai Food at
Baan Thai to celebrate Elysia and Elinor's approval run and first show together!
With some new friends coming and old friends leaving, we thought it was finally time to visit
Iron Fairies bar. I have been wanting to go here forever, so with dinner at
Babacio first, we made a night of it.
Second stop was a visit to the speak easy
Le Boudoir-
Finally, it was Iron Fairies time, and it was everything I ever dreamed it would be.
My smoke in a bottle drink actually smoking
Speaking of new friends, I have someone very special you all need to meet, Duffy! She is my friend Irene's precious little chihuahua, and because I miss doggies so much, she let me walk her and play with her for a bit to fill my dark, cold, pup-less soul.
Sorry Irene, I think you need to bring Duffy to work with us everyday now.
Hong Kong Disneyland is still open every day except Tuesdays and Thursdays, unless it is a holiday or high attendance expected, so I have plenty of time to go splashing with my girl.
We also have the rest of our cast finally out of quarantine, which means lots of park time!
Look! Moana held my hand!
New Ant Man High Score..
With everyone officially out of quarantine now, we also have had quite a few get to know you get togethers, including
Shake Shack and going to see the new Emma Stone Cruella film. We loved it, and it is getting us all in that Halloween spirit, which is starting to feel just around the corner.
(Sorry Emma, we can't take him anywhere).
