live the moment and love the memory
So we had a fun little surprise this week. It is not uncommon for me to have tummy issues, so when my tummy had been hurting and not wanting food for a few days I had not really thought of it as more than a normal issue. After a week went by of me being unable to keep any food in my body, and visiting 2 different doctors giving me medications that were not working, the stress was increasing. We ended up in the urgent care facility at the hospital, where they decided to admit me to run some tests.
After 2 very stressful nights in the hospital, and several tests later, the doctor determined I was suffering from 2 different harmful strands of E. Coli. This was great news because 1 it was an answer 2 it provides a treatment route and 3 it's a pretty common thing. It was also funny because we had spoken to Amy's mom earlier in the week who is a nurse and had said immediately it sounded like E. Coli. Would really love to know where I contracted this, but there is really no way of telling. For those of you who haven't Googled it yet, E. Coli is a bacterial infection in the digestive track that is basically a really, really severe type of food poisoning.
After setting me up with some strong antibiotics and a treatment plan, I was finally able to check out of my hospital room and have a good nights sleep at home in my bed (here in HK).Still taking a little time off work to get some full recovery, but hopefully I will be good as new and back to making some magic soon. So incredibly grateful to my amazing support system here in HK, nurses, friends, and family who have been checking in on me, bringing me food, sending me memes, and over all making me feel really cared for during this time.
But before all this silly drama, we had a great month! Living with friends is the best. We get to have Decedents dance parties whenever we want!Lots of reasons to celebrate these days! New adventures, new roles, but most importantly, we celebrated one year until Amy gets married!
It has been a very rainy start to the summer season, making outdoor adventuring difficult to plan. We hiked the Ng Tung Chai Waterfall hike, where the forecast had said no rain, however, it rained at least 3/4 of the hike, and everything was muddy and slippery. It was still a lovely time, and it made the 3 waterfalls we visited that much more refreshing when swimming. The second fall, Upper Fall, is only about a 5 minute walk from the Lower Fall, and since it had rained so much, was bursting with water. The power coming from this water fall was insane, and we could not really even get in because the water was pelting down so hard.
The 3rd and final fall we saw that day was Rainbow Fall. There are over 9 waterfalls on this hike in total, but with the weather making things difficult, we decided to call it a day. We made a friend at Rainbow Falls who taught us where to climb to get to the top and take the best photos.
It was such a great adventure day, and what better way to end it than at Pepper Lunch.
More eating adventures to be had, especially now that Amy is here.
We had a proper English Sunday Roast Dinner at The Globe-
We visited Al's Diner, for some good ol' American food.
I even had a root beer float! *mind blown emoji*
Where of course, I once again got pooped on by bird waiting for the bus (for the second time that week!)....but don't worry because the following week I was pooped on for a 3rd time. I do not know what the deal is. We also rode the ding ding to dinner to Santorini and passed Mike's music video with Keung To playing in Times Square! We had a little face cast outting to dinner at Green Common, which is an all vegan restaurant.
One of my favorite lunch set meals we had was the Egyptian food at Aziza! I highly recommend! I also took Amy and Sarah to my favorite little drinks spot, Funky Monkey where Washam made us the best drinks, and mind was served in a bathtub! I will never accept a drink without it being surrounded by lights ever again.
I am really having a great time this contract. While Covid is something we are very much learning to live with here in HK, we are making the most of it. Our cases have gone up again, but it seems like people are being asked to self isolate instead of closures now, which is a stepping stone. There is still a 7 day hotel quarantine process to enter the country and we are still required to have masks on at all times, unless you are visibly working out outside. There are still barriers up in restaurants and we are still up to groups of 8 to a table and 4 people in outdoor gatherings. We just swore in a new Chief Executive who we are hoping will adjust some of these to be a little less restrictive, however, HK tends to have to follow what China's procedures are these days. We are just lucky to not be in a lock down anymore.
I have been very lucky to experience some new adventures with new friends. The real HK Disneyland parade has not happened since Covid began, but there is a magical moment where some of the princesses appear on the train that visits through the park.
Belle got to visit outside on the train as well-I also got to hang out with Aurora for a really special cast preview of the new night time show, Momentous.
Mike was able to attend the cast preview and got to meet some very special characters before the fireworks.
The new nighttime spectacular Momentous, is stunning. HKDL has not had fireworks since 2017, and the last time I had seen them was my last MWB show in 2016 with these same girls, making it extra special, but also so happy to celebrate some other new faces as well! The new nighttime show is focused around time always moving, passing through the chapters of life including time beginning, growth and a time for change, sweetest moments of life where time stands still, a test of time with life challenges, and finally a time to remember. Long story short, it's emotional in the best way.
I have also made a couple of more friends recently. Meeting Snow White was something I absolutely never dreamed would happen, but spending time with her has been so much fun.
I had one of the most amazing days surveilling Black Widow, and opening the new Tomorrowland stage for a small show moment before meet and greets. I absolutely love Marvel, so getting to hang out with Marvel super heros all day was a dream come true.
I am still subbing over at MWB show when asked, which made for a really cool moment of getting to sing with Amy for the first time since 2016. It was a very emotional and thrilling time, and we got to celebrate even longer with a typhoon day closing the park the next day.
