Don't Feel Guilty For Doing What Is Best For You

So after a week of tearing up floors and repacking all of our stuff yet again, Mike and I headed off on the roadtrip from Brockport, New York to drive to our new? old? home, Orlando, FL. The drive really takes about 24 hours in total, but we broke it up with a stop in South Carolina to stay with my Uncle so we could have a little rest point. The kicker was we got a little tummy bug on the way there, so the car trip to South Carolina took a little longer than expected, and we were pretty uncomfortable in an already uncomfortable car trip, but we did finally make it.

We were very happy to see the whole family and get to hang out for dinner and play some charades. They were the perfect hosts, feeding us, housing us, and entertaining us.
Charleston, South Carolina is only about a 30 minute drive from their home, so Mike and I decided to spend our one day of rest out of the car by exploring a little there. We went to Isle of Palms Beach in the morning, and tried not to completely scorch our feet walking on the beach and pretending we were in a Nicholas Sparks book.
Wild Dunes is the resort Mike’s family usually stays at every other year or so in this area, so we walked over to their restaurant for some shade and to listen to the beautiful, live steel drums music.

Our last little beach stop was to Isle of Palms County Park to use their showers and facilities before we went onward in our day.
For lunch, we went to Mike’s family’s favorite, Saltwater Cowboys, where we saw dolphins playing on Shems Creek while we snacked on our creek bowl.
It was incredibly hot walking around, and I literally felt like the ground was on fire, so we didn’t have a lot of patience for walking around the city (and finding parking..and it was a Sunday, and it was super crowded….did I give you enough excuses yet, cause I have more). We did drive around a bit in the area to see the Rainbow Row houses-
And White Point Garden
And some other stops.
We also made our way to Charleston city market, where we checked out all the local goodies and treats.
My favorite part of the day was getting Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, which had fried chicken and a spicy honey sauce, and was so delicious.
We were so glad we were able to make a pit stop in South Carolina on our long car trip, but it did make us realize we would like to come back sometime and truly vacation here. On Monday morning, we left around 9am and continued the rest of our 6 hour drive to Orlando. We finally made it to Florida, and stopped by the Florida welcome center for some orange juice!
We were very happy to see some familiar faces in Orlando, even though they have grown so much even since December!
We are very lucky that Bethany and Logan are taking us in and housing us during this transition, even if that means they make us do house projects like hanging a door and weed whacking to pay our dues (I AM KIDDING BETHANY, RELAX).
But it’s fine because we are paid with pool time (ALSO KIDDING BETHANY!).
We have already had a few small Florida adventures since being back. We of course had to visit Disney Springs, and have an Earl of Sandwich, and take a boat ride.
We also had a quick visit to Aquatica!

We also did a filming day with FrontRunner and got to go to Animal Kingdom on our 5th wedding anniversary. It was nice to get to work and be together on our wedding anniversary, however, the temperature was about 110 degrees and I thought I was going to burst into flames. I really thought the heat wouldn’t affect me this much after being in Hong Kong where it has been just as hot, but wow, it is so hard. After our filming we stopped by Mike’s employment place to get my spouse pass all sorted out.
We had big plans after to go out to dinner at a Disney resort, but the day was too warm and we needed a chill evening, so we instead ended up at Ale House.
We also had a little delayed celebration date night with some delicious Jeremiah's Ice Cream-

I was just happy we got to be together and celebrate our big 5. Happy Anniversary, Mike! I love you!

Being back in Orlando has been kind of strange. It feels a bit like vacation, and all I have done is constantly applied for jobs. I know things will settle in eventually, and we are very excited to be here, but also transition times are really not my favorite, and we are eager to get into routines.
